The DuoWide by Ecotap is a freestanding dual EV charger, specifically developed for public use in locations such as parking garages, charging plazas, business parks, and municipal sites. It combines two full-capacity charge points in a robust, low-maintenance housing — ready for everyday outdoor use.
For Studio Renderlijk, this was one of the first products where we could apply our visualizations at a functional, urban scale. The goal: show the strength of the design in its natural context — visible, understandable, and convincing.
From CAD to Character
The DuoWide was designed in SolidWorks. We optimized the model for visualization in 3ds Max and rendered it using Corona Renderer. The challenge was to present a technical product within a believable environment, without compromising its original character: functional, solid, and purpose-driven.
The focus was on visual clarity and a clear sense of scale. How does the DuoWide stand in an urban setting, among cars and users? How readable is the design from a distance, and how clearly is the user interaction with the dual charge points portrayed?
What We Brought Into View
The visualizations highlight:
- The sealed, robust design suitable for all weather conditions
- The dual charging capability, with attention to cable guidance, user interface, and physical accessibility
- A recognizable public setting: sidewalks, streetlights, parked vehicles — without overshadowing the product
We created 3D environments that feel familiar to end users and persuasive in marketing materials.
Sustainable Infrastructure, Visually Told
The DuoWide plays a key role in the expansion of public charging infrastructure. Its form isn’t a design statement, but a deliberate choice for scalability, serviceability, and safety.
Our job was to visually reinforce that story. Not by making the product look better than it is, but by placing it where it belongs: in the streetscape.
